Black Crows Camox Freebird Skis 2026

Let’s get one thing straight: the Camox Freebird isn’t trying to be the lightest ski on the skintrack — and we're thankful for that.  If you want a toothpick on your feet while you climb for six hours only to get bucked on the way down, there are plenty of light weight "skis" for that. The Black Crows Camox Freebird is for people who still want to ski the mountain, not just survive it. At 95 mm underfoot, it hits that sweet spot: wide enough to float through soft snow, narrow enough to edge when things get firm and weird. It’s playful but still smooth. It’s stable enough without being boring, and it has enough backbone to charge every now and then, if you're feeling up to it. Weight-wise, it’s light enough for long missions, but not so light that it gets tossed around. Translation: you can slap a hybrid binding on here and use it as a true 50/50 ski — or go full tech and start ticking off remote lines without worrying about tip chatter or tail washout on the descent. Too many touring skis feel like a compromise — “yeah, it sucks a little to ski, but it’s so light!” Not this one. The Camox Freebird lets you forget you're on a touring ski until you get back to the skintrack.
