Volkl Peregrine 82 Skis 2026

The Volkl Peregrine 82 is everything a frontside ski should be but with more use cases than you'd expect. A lot of high performance frontside skis are unforgiving, or require constant input, or can feel cumbersome at low speeds. We we're shocked to ski these and find that the Peregrine has none of those characteristics, especially shocked considering Volkl also makes the Mantra. The Peregrine is more well balanced and much easier to ski than a Mantra, but doesn't sacrifice any performance expert skiers might be after.

On firm sonw the Peregrine is locked into a turn, is easy to pull in and out of turns, and can make a surprisingly large array of turn shapes. It prefers medium radius to short turns but can be coaxed to run long. Unlike some other skis in this category, the Peregrine can be slashed, meaning the tails are easy to release if you want them to. This provides the user with more sense of "control" and allows the skis to feel more predictable or "versatile."

Over the course of testing season we used these on boilerplate days that'll rattle your brain a bit, to unexpected soft snow Spring days on "mashed potatoey" groomers. The Peregrine held up well in both respects. It definitely prefers the more firm terrain and wide open groomers, but it's stable enough to plow through the crud you'd find on Spring ski days.

Compared to some other options in this category like the Stockli Montero AR or the Fischer Curv GT 85, the Peregrine is a touch less powerful but still has plenty of power for even the more aggresssive skiers out there.

If you're someone who loves to rip groomers all day but don't want a ski that requires a ton of work, this is a great option. It works for low intermediates all the up to the best skier you know. Great frontside ski... Way to go Volkl.
