Lange finally has a legit performance boot for high-volume feet that doesn't feel like a compromise. The Shadow HV series replaced the Lange LX boots and the Shadow is a huge improvement. The High Volume version of the Shadow 120 fits like a 102mm last should, roomy in the forefoot, generous through the instep, but with just enough heel hold and ankle support to avoid that sloppy “boat boot” feel. The liner is plush where you want it and dense where you need it, and heat molding can dial it even further.  The 120 flex hits that sweet spot for intermediate to advanced skiers who want some power and support, but don’t want to feel like they're pushing against a brick wall to engage the power band. The Shadow 120 HV feels stiffer than your average High Volume 120 but still forgiving. Think damp, reactive, and confidence-inspiring without being punishing. What that means on snow: smoother transitions, a more planted feel, and noticeably less quad burn when you’re pushing through chopped-up terrain or big, arcing turns on lower angle terrain. It’s a high-volume boot that brings real downhill performance to skiers with wider foot shapes, or those who prefer a more relaxed fit.
